 Massapequan honored with sportsmanship award

Joe Votinelli of the Massapequa Soccer Club was recently presented with the Sportsmanship Coach of the Year from the Long Island Junior Soccer League. He was nominated for the award due to the submission of the winning essay which nominated Votinelli and  submitted by Jamie Macchia, a player on his team.

Votinelli has been coaching in the Massapequa Soccer Club since 1994 and is currently coaching the Massapequa Arsenal since 2005.

Votinelli has coached his current team, Massapequa Arsenal, to Division 1 and winning many tournaments along the way.  However, he cherishes the two bronze Sportsmanship chevrons that the team won in the last few seasons. Votinelli is a true believer that creating an atmosphere that the kids and their families want to be a part of will keep them playing soccer for a extended period of time.
