Farmingdale High School celebrates Earth Day

Mr. Kramer's contemporary global Issues electiv class in Farmingdale High School has been making a concerted effort to bring global issues to the forefront of the community. In response to their participation in the Scholastic/Lexus Environmental Challenge, the students have initiated an Earth Day event to take place on April 19. The event will raise awareness of environmental conservation issues to the local community. From noon to 5:00 PM, students, teachers, volunteers, local businesses and community groups and leaders will participate in the event, sharing knowledge and educating each other on recycling and other actions that can be done to better the environment.

Earth Day is part of the second phase of the Scholastic/ Lexus Environmental Challenge. Earlier this year the class won the first round of the challenge to brainstorm and enact an environmental plan. Farmingdale High School initiated a recycling program to win the challenge. The Contemporary Global Issues class and Mr. Kramer continue to share their knowledge and encourage positive behaviors.
