Eugene Malone, MSD employee & 'Pequan Longtime Massapequa resident and loving patriarch, Eugene W. Malone, who worked as a custodian for the Massapequa School District, died March 15, 2008. He was 69 years old. Born in Brooklyn, he served in the U.S. Army. For many years he worked for the Harris Corp. in Syosset as a building maintenance supervisor until his retirement, and later until 2004 as a custodian for Massapequa Schools. For 37 years he lived on Cabot Road West in Massapequa and loved to spend time with his family. His favorite hobby, according to his wife of 43 years Noreen (nee Ledwith), was to build playhouses for his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he also leaves behind his children: William and his wife Lynne of West Islip, Thomas and his wife Diedre of Massapequa, Michele Emanuele and her husband Mickey of Massapequa and Michael and his wife Victoria of Smithtown; his grandchildren, who called him Pop Pop: Daniel, Matthew, Kevin, Noreen, Kaitlyn, Maggie, Colleen, Patrick, Michael and Max; and his siblings: Maureen, Joan, Carol, William, James, Thomas, Dennis and Susie. He was predeceased by his siblings: Robert and Patricia. He reposed at the Massapequa Funeral Home in Massapequa Park on March 18 and 19, 2008. A Blessing was conducted March 20, 2008 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Massapequa. Interment followed in Grace Church Cemetery, Massapequa.
