Joseph Fazzare, retired U.S. postman, longtime 'Peqan

Retired U.S. postal employee and longtime Massapequan Joseph "Joe" V. Fazzare died March 13, 2008. He was 80 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II based in Cuba. He lived on Ocean Avenue in Massapequa for 49 years and worked as a postman in Garden City until his retirement. According to his family, he was an avid golfer.

Mr. Fazzare leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; and his children: Deborah and Raymond. He was predeceased by his son Thomas.

He reposed at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Bethpage Funeral Home on the March 16 and 17, 2008. A celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church was held on March 18, 2008. Interment followed in the Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.
