Rose Bertelle, former North Massapequan Longtime North Massapequa resident Rose Josephine Bertelle, who loved her family and lived life to the fullest, died suddenly March 28, 2008 in Lake Arrowhead, California surrounded by her family. She was 85 years old. Described by her family as having a zest for life, she was lovingly called "Go Go Grandma" because of her love of travel and seemingly endless energy. She was born Aug. 23, 1922 in Brooklyn to Gaetano and Maria Guarino. After marrying Jack Frank Bertelle, she lived on North Poplar Street in North Massapequa for 14 years until 1966 when the moved to Middletown and Palenville, New York and then to Margate and Clearwater, Florida. She had lived in San Bernadino, California for the past 11 years. Mrs. Bertelle leaves behind her son, Ralph and his wife Rosemary of New York State, Barbara Schierhold and her husband Glenn of California and Jacqueline Martell and her husband Gary of California; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Jack; her siblings: Mary Taravella, Lucy Gelosi and Vincent and her parents. Mrs. Bertelle was interred in the Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn next to her husband. A Catholic Memorial Service was said on April 7, 2008.
