Free concert to be held May 4

Community United Methodist Church (CUMC) will echo with the sounds of spirituals, Broadway show tunes, and classical solos and duets as three accomplished and artists offer an afternoon of musical fare. The church is located at 100 Park Blvd., Massapequa, between Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road. Admission is free. A free will offering will be taken during the concert.

Thomas Schmidt will accompany singers Diane Barclay, soprano, and Roosevelt Credit, bass-baritone. The concert program will include tunes from Broadway shows Porgy and Bess, Showboat, Guys and Dolls and Annie Get Your Gun. There will also be popular songs such as Your Feet's Too Big by Fats Waller; classical pieces by Purcell, Mozart, and Puccini and spirituals such as Is There Any Body Here, and He's Got the Whole World in His Hands.

CUMC has been in ministry to the surrounding community since 1947. The church is recognized for its Thrift Shop ministry and its work to alleviate and eliminate hunger and poverty on Long Island and beyond.
