ToBay congratulates scholarship winners

Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Beth Faughnan recently announced that the Town's Arts Council presented its annual scholarships to high school seniors who are pursuing their education in the arts.

"The Town of Oyster Bay Arts Council is a non- profit service organization which promotes and supports the arts within the Town," Councilwoman Faughnan said. "It is guided by a volunteer board of directors, whose mission is to provide a forum to promote, publicize and stimulate performing and visual arts in our local communities."

The following students were awarded as 2008 scholarships winners: Delaney Rita Page, Long Island Lutheran High School, cello; Tyler Lee, Long Island High School for the Arts (LISHA)/ Merrick School District, vocal; Joseph Wegmann, LISHA/Huntington School District, theatre; Jennifer Austin, Hicksville High School, vocal; Annan- da Carmody, LISHA, dance; Vanessa Ferranti, Our Lady of Mercy Academy, dance; Dee Brown, LISHA/Long Beach School District, gospel vocal. The following students are winners of visual arts scholarships: Christopher Belfiore, Oyster Bay High School; Michelle Noriega, LISHA/Roosevelt School District; Jae Lee, Hicksville High School; Jeong Woo Kim, Mill Neck Manor School for the Deaf and Natalie Mestel, Syosset High School.

"The Town of Oyster Bay and the Town's Arts Council are pleased to recognize these students," Councilwoman Faughnan stated. "We wish them much success in their future endeavors."
