Melanie J. Rudnick of Amityville nominated to Inaugural Conference in D.C.

Melanie J. Rudnick, of Amityville, has been nominated as an inaugural scholar to participate in the University Presidential Inaugural Conference in Washington, D.C. celebrating the inauguration of the President and Vice President of the United States.

Rudnick was personally selected based upon her leadership skills demonstrated at the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine.

Rudnick will participate in activities at our nation's capital for fivedays including the swearing in of the new president on January 29, 2009. The highlights of this nomination include the inaugural parade, meeting with government leaders and White Hosue staff members. She has been personally selected to attend the inaugural ball black tie gala for this historic occasion.

Rudnick is currently a junior at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She is continuing medical research with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute this summer at Lehigh. This research grants a stipend for the ten-week program, which includes undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral students.
