The Library will present a free Concert Under the Stars at Brady Park, Lake Shore Drive and Front St., Thurs., July 17, 8 p.m. The Americana Concert Band will recreate the sight and sound of a mid-nineteenth century brass band. Bring your lawn chairs. In case of rain, the program will be held in the Harbor Lane auditorium at 8:15 p.m.
•The Massapequa Public Library at Harbor Lane, along with the Underground Railroad Teaching Partnership of Long Island, will present Women & Men of the Underground Railroad on Long Island on Wed., July 23, 2 p.m. •Registration is underway for two trips. A trip to Fire Island and lunch at Flynns, will be held Tues., Aug. 12, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The fee is $71. On Wed., Sept. 24, 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. a trip to the Lower East Side, Tenement Museum will be offered. The cost is $66 per person. •A program on copingliving on Long Island, a guide for seniors, will be offered Fri., July 18, 1 p.m. A representative from SafeGuard Credit Counseling Services will discuss the options that are available just for seniors. •The Short Story Group will meet Mon., July 21, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Copies are available at the reference desk. •On Tues., July 22, 7 p.m. Judy Van brunt will teach various creative way to preserve family photos for generations. Learn scrapbooking terms, basic layouts and some scrapbooking techniques. Bring 10 to 15 family photographs. Registration is underway. •Game Time for Seniors will be held Wed., July 23, 1:30 p.m. The library has purchased a Nintendo Wii and traditional board and card games will also be played. •On Wed., July 23, 7:30 p.m., home improvement author Tom Philbin will discuss the most prominent home improvement ripoffs and how to avoid them.
