'Pequan James Chadwick, 74
"My husband was a quiet man who just loved spending time with his family," said his wife of 53 years, Lucille A., who said her husband also enjoyed football and was an avid movie watcher. Born in Brooklyn, he moved to Colonial Drive in Massapequa and lived there for 41 years. Mr. Chadwick was a Korean War Veteran who served in the U.S. Air Force and had worked for New York City Transit as a supervisor until his retirement. In addition to his wife, he also leaves behind his children: Karen Tobias and her husband Bob of Massapequa; William and his wife Joyce of Boca Raton, Florida; James J. II and his wife Aixa of Massapequa, and Thomas and his wife Kristina of Bethpage. His grandchildren, Christine, Don, Billy, Alexandra, Sara, Jennifer, Nicole, TJ and Matthew also survive him. He was predeceased by his sisters, Genevieve Dempsey, Helen Belles and Barbara Zimmerman. He reposed at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on Sept. 20 and 21, 2008. The American Legion Post 1066 in Massapequa held services on Sept. 21, 2008. A Funeral Mass was said Sept. 22, 2008 at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church in Amityville, followed by interment in Long Island National Cemetery at Pinelawn.
