Panera Bread marked the opening of its 18th Long Island bakery-cafe on Monday with its traditional "bread break­ing" ceremony. Councilman Joseph G. Pinto, at left Town of Oyster Bay, was on hand to officially commemorate the Massapequa restaurant's opening in the Sunrise Promenade on Sunrise Highway, as he, and Christopher Schneider of Senator Fuschillo's office,at right, broke bread with Greg George, Vice President of Operations for Panera Bread. The bakery-cafe, which opened last Monday, conveys a welcoming coffeehouse atmosphere, but serves every­thing from breakfast soufflés and hand-tossed salads to signature sandwiches and soup in edible sourdough bread bowls. It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday to Friday; from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and from 7 a.m., to 9 p.m., Sunday. Panera also offersfree Wi-Fihigh-speed Internet access. Theav­erage wait time to get your meal is under four minutes!

Broccoli Rob's, located at 20 Broadway, Massapequa, (in back of the Massapequa train station) celebrated its grand opening, May 5. Members of the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce and Town and Village officials were on hand to welcome Broccoli Rob's to the neighbor­hood with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
