MPK Independence Day activities planned
The Incorporated Village of Massapequa Park announced the Independence Day activities taking place in its Village.
On Sat., June 27, the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 15 will host Irish Night in Brady Park from 7 to 10 p.m. Bring your chairs and be treated to entertainment. Refreshments and Irish memorabilia will be on sale. On Sat., July 4, the Village of Massapequa Park will sponsor its annual Independence Day Parade beginning at 11a.m. The parade will begin at Lake Shore Drive and Walker Street and travel south on Park Boulevard at Front Street. Trophies will be awarded for the Best Appearing Color Guard, Best Appearing Marching Units, First and Second Place Music Groups, Best Float and Best Overall Unit. On Sun., July 5th, there will be Breakfast at Brady Park from 8 to 11 a.m. Come enjoy breakfast with your friends in Brady Park. Tickets are $3 for adults and $2 for children.
On Sun., July 5, the Massapequa Roadrunners Club will sponsor its 28th Annual Firecracker 5K Run. Therace will begin promptly at 5 p.m. on Park Boulevard just north of Clark Boulevard in Massapequa Park. Awards will be given for the first male and female finishers from Massapequa Park, plus others. For those runners 10 and under, there will be a one quarter-mile race beginning at 4 p.m. You can register to run by contacting the Massapequa Roadrunners Club at 796-1900 or stop by Village Hall, 151 Front St., Massapequa Park, for an application. There will be post-race refreshments and raffles.
