John Terino, loving family man
Longtime Massapequa Park resident and beloved family patriarch John J. Terino died May 16, 2009. He was 92. Born in Queens, he lived on Lourae Drive in The Park for more than 52 years where he was lovingly dubbed "the mayor."
John Terino Mr. Terino served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was based in both the Pacific and in Europe. Afterhe retired as a foreman from New York Telephone in Queens, he spent his time perfecting his magic tricks and collecting valuable coins. For many years he served as head usher at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in Massapequa Park, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America Club.
Mr. Terino leaves behind his daughter, Theresa Thompson and her husband Stephen of Vannemore, New York; his nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and grand nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Mae, and his daughter, Rosemary. He reposed at the Massapequa Funeral Home in Massapequa Park on May 18 and May 19, 2009. A Mass of Christian Burial was said on May 20, 2009. Interment followed in St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
