NCPD anonymous drug analysis program
The Nassau County Police Department has an Anonymous Drug Analysis Program available to parents/guardians in Nassau County who believe their child may be in possession of drugs. The Narcotics Squad administers the program and it enables the parent to identify the suspected drug substance as well as affording the parent or guardian the advice and counsel of a member of the Narcotics/Vice Squad anonymously. The purpose of this program is to provide parents or guardians with information on which they can either confirm or dispel suspicion to base further action. The suspicious drug substance will be destroyed after analysis. No criminal charges will be instituted through this program.
Parents or guardians who encounter a suspicious substance which they believe may be drugs among the possessions of a child may submit the substance for analysis to the Nassau County Police Department as follows:
1) The parent or guardian should notify the local precinct that they are bringing a suspicious drug to the precinct for analysis; get the name of the officer who you notified. Bring the drug substance to your local precinct along with an envelope to seal the substance.
2) Inform the police personnel at the stationhouse that you wish to submit potential drugs for testing in the “Anonymous Drug Analysis Program.”
3) You will seal the suspicious drug substance in the envelope in the presence of police personnel and write a code name or initials across the seal. No other identification is necessary. No names need be given as the code name or initials on the package will suffice for further communication with the Department.
4) After a period of ten days has passed call the Narcotics/Vice Squad, at 573-3400, Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.and provide your code name or initials which you gave at the stationhouse to receive the results of the drug analysis.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Anonymous Drug Testing Program feel free to contact your local police precinct for further information. If you live in the Seventh Precinct the phone number is (516) 573-6700.
