St. William the Abbot students perform at Avery Fisher Hall
Students from St. William the Abbot School (SWS), Seaford joined voices with the renowned Cross Boarder Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI) at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center. St. William the Abbot School had the honor of representing all of Long Island at this event!
TheCBOI , was established in 1995 as a means of bringing young people from across Ireland together, crossing the religious divide between catholic and protestant-school children. The organizers envisioned a flagship group that would “educate children about commitment, tolerance and friendship through the medium of music.”
On Oct. 29, the orchestra combined with 500 students in the region. Together, they performed for a sold-out crowd. SWS students
performed This is Me from Camp Rock, No Wars Will Stop Us Singing, Galway Girl, World in Union, Hairspray and Abba Medley and Ireland’s Call as part of the combined chorus.
In the words of one fifth-grade student “Thatwas awesome. I want to be a singer on that stage again when I grow up!”
