Massapequa athletes score in Oyster Bay town supervisor's 5 K run
      John Daly of North Massapequa took 21st place overall and first in the 50-54 age group to lead a large contingent of runners from the Massapequas and Amityville in the 26th annual Oyster Bay Town Supervisor’s Oyster Festival 5 Kilometer Run, held on the roads of Oyster Bay hamlet on Oct. 17. Daly crossed the finish line in 18 minutes, 23 seconds.

      Plainedge High School’s 2009 varsity softball team, which was coached by Jason McGowan and assistant coach Tara Kalberer, has been named a 2008-2009 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Academic Team.

Massapequa resident signs letter of Intent to attend Molly College
      Long Island Lutheran (NY) High School senior Jessica DeNicola, of Massapequa signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Molloy College to compete on the Girls Division II Basketball Team next year. DeNicola will be receiving a full academic and athletic scholarship. She is the daughter of Mark and Dawn DeNicola of Massapequa.

MHS students aid breast cancer awareness
     In conjunction with Massapequa’s own Town Florist on Park Boulevard in Massapequa Park, the Massapequa High School Main Campus CARE Club sold over 200 pink carnations to raise awareness of breast cancer and to contribute to research and hope for a cure. Shown are some of the CARE Club members who volunteered their time during the carnation sale.
