TheLong Island Writers’ Guild (LIWG), a writing organization established and dedicated to fostering the development of its members and talents, recently honored Massapequa resident Steve Post with the President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement. This annual award celebrates a member of five years or more who has accomplishments in writing and providing coaching and or support for the Long Island Writers’ Guild and its members.

Post, who joined the Long Island Writers’ Guild in 2004, had his first novel, Samsara Moon, an historical epic, published in 2006. All launch parties for Samsara Moon served as fundraisers for Schneider Children’s Hospital and its Center for Hope that provides bereavement care and support for children/families who have lost a parent. Post continues to attend literary events as well as host readings for senior groups and book clubs. He is also at work on his second novel.

The Long Island Writers’ Guild, Inc., celebrating its seventeenth year, strives to cultivate the literary excellence of Long Island writers with free, informal workshops conducted in both Nassau and Suffolk County. LIWG provides a supportive and educational environment, giving published and non-published writers the opportunity to present their works-in-progress, receive and provide critiquing and promote publishing opportunities. For more information about select workshops, please visit LIWG’s website www.LIWritersGuild. Org, call Joan Behan at 516-694-9176 or by email at joanbehan@hotmail.com.
