Want cell phones? You must have cell towers!
Dear Editor:
I am writing concerning the cell tower application being considered by the Village Board in Massapequa Park. It seems to me that we all love the conveniences that a cell phone affords us but very few of us want cell towers in close proximity to our homes. You can’t have it both ways. I am tired of hearing about the “health concerns” that cell towers pose - just another way to make Village/Town/County officials take note. I think it has been clearly proven that there are no health risks connected to cell tower installation - people just don’t want anything in their backyard. Too bad. When you buy a home in certain locations you run certain risks. Let’s think about the community good - if a cell tower will bring in added revenue in these almost dire financial times, good for the community. Mr. Byrne loves his cell phone but doesn’t like to see the towers - too bad for him. Ms. Falvo is another one who wants to hang her hat on the health issue - she is so far off base that she has to resort to a scare tactic. Mayor Altadonna and Village Board members, stop trying to appease all the fringe elements and do what’s best for the village - approve this cell tower.
