LIWG Reads! is a reading series presented to the public that showcases the talents of select members in various genres of writing including poetry, prose, memoir and journalism. Dr. Paulis is an international and medical lecturer and a new member of the Long Island Writers’ Guild. After 29 years of practicing emergency medicine, she retired last May to pursue her dream of writing. In August 2009, she was published in TheFire Island Tide, a news magazine with wide circulation and will be their medical correspondent this summer. A former medical reporter for CBS in Texas, Dr. Paulis had her own weekly show delivering health care information and taking live on-air questions from the viewing public. Throughout college and medical school, she was published in local papers and medical journals. As a Lt. Commander in the United States Public Health Service, she provided much needed health care to the Native Americans in rural Oklahoma. She later moved to Texas where she worked in inner cities, border towns and rural areas. She is currently working on a book of short stories about her experiences in the emergency room.

For more information about select workshops, contact the Guild at info@ liwritersguild.org or visit LIWG’s website www. LIWritersGuild.Org. LIWG is a not-for-profit 501 (C) 3 organization.
