Community effort to make Massapequa a Drug Free Zone continues to unfold
Drug Free Massapequa hosts information and strategy meeting
The number of arrests for the illegal use of pills skyrocketed from 168 in 2008 to 673 in 2009, a 300 percent increase. While increased enforcement is undoubtedly responsible in part for those arrests, there is no question that the use of opiates is a major problem—and continues to grow, said police and public officials.
