Attempted robbery of woman outside Massapequa Bank

POLICE ASK FOR PUBLIC'S HELP IN APPREHENDING SUBJECT

A 37-year-old woman was inside Chase Bank, 6 Carman Rd., Massapequa using the ATM in the lobby to make a withdrawal when she noticed a man inside the bank who appeared to be watching her. When the victim exited the bank, the subject approached her, grabbed at her pants pocket and demanded money. The victim refused and the subject lifted the front of his shirt to expose the handle of a handgun in the waistband of his pants and then threatened to shoot her. The victim turned and ran. The subject fled on foot in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred yesterday, June 1, at approximately 11:55 a.m. Seventh Squad Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
The subject is described as a male black, approximately 30 years old, 6’ tall, thin build, shaved head, scruffy goatee, neatly trimmed side burns, wearing a light gray tee-shirt, navy blue sweatpants, and worn black shoes.
