Police continue search for man who robbed and assaulted two mall employees

Nassau County Police canine and aviation units scoured the area near the Sunrise Westfield Mall Thursday night after two employees there were assaulted and robbed. Police gave this account:

Shortly before 11 p.m., Dec. 6, a 24-year-old-male and 25-year-old female victim entered a trash disposal room inside the Mall at 850 Sunrise Highway to deposit refuse. Once inside, an unknown male subject threw the male victim to the ground and kicked him multiple times confronted the two.

The subject removed an envelope containing an cash from the male victim’s pocket and grabbed two handbags the female was holding. He then fled the scene on foot westbound through the mall parking lot.

An extensive search by Seventh Precinct police officers, Canine and Aviation Units was conducted with negative results. The handbags were later recovered in the mall parking lot. No injuries were reported.

The subject was further described as a black male, 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 25 to 29 years of age. Detectives request anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
