Persichetti wins seat on Massapequa's Board of Fire Commissioners


In Fire District elections Dec. 10, voters put Gary Persichetti into a five-year set on the Board of Fire Commissioners. He beat out Joseph Giordano 772 to 445, for the seat formerly held b Tom McCarthy who did not seek reelection.

Persichetti is a retired New York City firefighter who served as department chief from 1992 to 1994. He is chairman of the department’s training committee and has a son who served in the department.

In North Massapequa, incumbent Commissioners Ralph Raymond and Frank Nocerino ran for reelection to two seats and were unopposed.

In Water District races, Raymond Averna ran unopposed for a seat on the Board of Water Commissioners. He was appointed last year and ran unopposed for his first, full  three-year term.

In the South Farmingdale Water District, Commissioner Gary Brosnan ran unopposed for reelection. A member of the North Massapequa Fire Department, he served in the Chief’s office from 2000 to 2008. He is the owner of Emergency Door Repair and has lived in Massapequa for more than 45 years.
