Nassau Police solve MPK robbery; two charged in Dec. 8 incident
Nassau County Police arrested two men, charging them with a robbery that occurred in Massapequa Park, Sun., Dec. 8. Dec. Seventh Squad detectives report the arrest of two men for a Robbery that occurred on December 8, 2013 at 8:40 pm in Massapequa Park.
According to Seventh Squad detectives, the 16-year-old male victim set up a meeting with the defendants who purportedly wanted to buy sneakers. Defendants Moleek Smalls, 16, of 100 Erlanger Blvd., North Babylon and Preshod McCoy, 20, of 43 Essex St., North Babylon met the victim in their vehicle on Maple Street, Massapequa Park.
After being shown sneakers by the defendants, the victim observed that they were not the pair that he had negotiated to purchase during conversations with Smalls and McCoy. As the victim attempted to exit the vehicle, Smalls drew a handgun and pressed it against the victim’s neck, demanding his money.
After a brief struggle, the victim, who dropped his iPhone in the car, was able to exit the vehicle uninjured. After realizing his phone remained in the defendant’s car, he attempted to recover it demanding that the defendants return it to him. Smalls and McCoy, refused, then fled the scene.
A subsequent investigation by detectives led them to the arrests of Smalls and McCoy.
Both Smalls and McCoy are charged with robbery 1st degree, robbery 2nd degree and criminal use of a firearm 1st degree. Defendant Smalls, who was arrested on an earlier date, was arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead Dec. 19, 2013. Defendant McCoy was arraigned in First District Court on Dec. 28.
