DISTRICT MEETING
MASSAPEQUA UNION
FREE SCHOOL
DISTRICT,
IN THE COUNTY OF
NASSAU, NEW YORK
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to a resolution of the Board of Education of the Massapequa
Union Free School District,
in the County of Nassau,
New York, adopted on July
28, 2014, a Special District
Meeting of the qualified
voters of said School District will be held on
Tuesday, October 21, 2014
from 6:00 o’clock A.M. to
9:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing Time), at each of the
following voting places:
SCHOOL ELECTION
DISTRICT NO. 1:
Massapequa High School
4925 Merrick Road
Massapequa, New York
SCHOOL ELECTION DISTRICT NO. 2: John P.
McKenna School
Spruce Street and Second
Avenue
Massapequa Park,
New York
SCHOOL ELECTION DISTRICT NO.3: Ray-
mond J. Lockhart School
Pittsburgh Avenue
Massapequa, New York
SCHOOL ELECTION DISTRICT NO. 4: Fairfield
School
Massapequa Avenue and
Prospect Place
Massapequa, New York
for the purpose of voting
upon the following Propositions: BOND PROPOSITION
RESOLVED:

(a) That the Board
of Education of the Massapequa Union Free School
District, in the County of
Nassau, New York (the “District”), is hereby authorized
to construct improvements
and alterations to various
District buildings and/or
sites (the “Project”) substantially as described in a plan
prepared by H2M Architects (the “Plan”), available
for public inspection in the
office of the District Clerk,
including (as and where
necessary): roof, window,
door, flooring, bleacher
and fencing replacements;
interior reconstruction, including science lab, library/
media center, lavatory,
kitchen, cafeteria, security
vestibule, network operations room and auditorium
renovations; improvements
to the heating, ventilation,
air conditioning, lighting,
electrical, fire safety, public
address/intercom and master clock systems; exterior
building improvements;
technology enhancements;
field, athletic and recreation
improvements, including
the installation of synthetic
turf fields, track and tennis
court resurfacing, baseball
dugout, press box, paving
and parking and sidewalk
improvements; all of the
foregoing to include the
original furnishings, equipment, machinery, apparatus, and all necessary site
work, alterations, ancillary,
demolition and other work
required in connection
therewith; and to expend
therefore, including preliminary costs and costs
incidental thereto and to
the financing thereof, an
amount not to exceed the
estimated maximum cost of
$35,700,000; provided that
the estimated costs of the
components of the Project
as set forth in detail in the
Plan may be reallocated
among such components
if the Board of Education
shall determine that such
reallocation is in the best
interests of the District;
(b) that a tax is hereby voted therefore in the
amount of not to exceed
$35,700,000, such tax to be
levied and collected in installments in such years and
in such amounts as shall be
determined by said Board
of Education; and
(c) that in anticipation
of said tax, the Board of Education is authorized to issue bonds of the District in

the principal amount of not
to exceed $35,700,000 and
a tax is hereby voted to pay
the interest on said bonds
as the same shall become
due and payable.
CAPITAL RESERVE FUND
PROPOSITION
RESOLVED:
That a new Capital Reserve
Fund be established in accordance with the provisions of Education Law
section 3651, to be designated “Capital Reserve
Fund 2014” (the “Fund”),
for the purpose of funding future District-wide
construction, reconstruction and renovations; the
probable term of which will
not exceed twenty-five (25)
years from the date of its
establishment; the ultimate
principal amount therein
to total $15,000,000 plus
interest earnings thereon;
such amount to be provided
from transfers of year-end
operating surpluses and/or
transfers from other reserve
accounts.
Such Propositions shall appear on the ballot labels to
be inserted in the voting
machines used for voting at
said Special District Meeting in substantially the following forms.
BOND PROPOSITION
RESOLVED:
(a) That the Board of Education of the Massapequa
Union Free School District,
in the County of Nassau,
New York (the “District”),
is hereby authorized to
construct improvements
and alterations to various
District buildings and/or
sites and to expend therefor, including preliminary
costs and costs incidental
thereto and to the financing thereof, not to exceed
$35,700,000; (b) that a tax
is hereby voted therefor in
the amount of not to exceed
$35,700,000, such tax to be
levied and collected in installments in such years and
in such amounts as shall be
determined by said Board
of Education; and (c) that
in anticipation of said tax,
the Board of Education is
authorized to issue bonds
of the District in the principal amount of not to exceed
$35,700,000, and a tax is
hereby voted to pay the interest on said bonds as the
same shall become due and
payable.

The voting will be conducted by ballot on voting machines as provided
in the Education Law and
the polls will remain open
from 6:00 o’clock A.M. to
9:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing
Time) and as much longer
as may be necessary to enable the voters then present
to cast their ballots.
NOTICE IS FURTHER
GIVEN that pursuant to
Education Law §2014, personal registration of voters
is required, and no person
shall be entitled to vote at
the Special District Meeting whose name does not
appear on the register of
the District. Voter registration for the District is ongoing until Thursday, October
16, 2014, from 8:00 o’clock
A.M. until 4:00 o’clock P.M.
(Prevailing Time), during regular school days at
the office of the District
Clerk, 4925 Merrick Road,
at which time any person
shall be entitled to have his/
her name placed upon such
register, provided that he/
she is known or proven to
be then or thereafter entitled to vote at said Special
District Meeting for which
such register is prepared.
Additionally, the Board of
Registration shall meet on
Tuesday, October 14, 2014,
from 4:00 o’clock P.M. until
8:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing Time), at the place in
each election district hereinabove designated for the
purpose of registering eligible voters.
The register of the qualified voters of said School
District prepared for the
Annual Meeting and Election held on May 20, 2014
shall be used as the basis for
the preparation of the register for said Special District

Meeting to be held on October 21, 2014. Any person
whose name appears on
such register or who shall
have been previously registered for any Annual or
Special District Meeting or
election and who shall have
voted at any annual or special meeting or any election
held or conducted at any
time since January 1, 2010,
will not be required to register personally for this
Special District Meeting. In
addition, any person otherwise qualified to vote who is
registered with the Board of
Elections of Nassau County
under the provisions of the
Election Law, shall be entitled to vote at said Special
District Meeting without
further registration. All
other persons who wish to
vote at said Special District
Meeting must register.
The register of voters shall
be filed upon its completion
in the office of the District
Clerk and shall be open to
inspection by any qualified
voter of the school between
the hours of 8:00 o’clock
A.M. and 4:00 o’clock P.M.
(Prevailing Time) on each
of the five days prior to the
day of the election, Sunday
excepted, and on Saturday,
October 18, 2014, by appointment only.
NOTICE IS FURTHER
GIVEN that applications
for absentee ballots may be
applied for at the office of
the District Clerk at 4925
Merrick Road, Massapequa,
New York on any weekday,
except holidays, during regular business hours. If the
ballot is to be mailed to the
voter, the completed application must be received by
the District Clerk no later
than October 14, 2014. If
the ballot is to be delivered
personally to the voter at
the office of the District
Clerk, the completed application must be received by
the District Clerk no later
than October 20, 2014. No
absentee voter’s ballot shall
be canvassed unless it shall
have been received in the
office of the District Clerk
of the Massapequa Union
Free School District not
later than 5:00 o’clock P.M.
(Prevailing Time) on the
day of the Special District
Meeting.
A list of all persons to
whom absentee ballots
shall have been issued will
be available for public inspection at the office of the
District Clerk of the school

district between the hours
of 8:00 o’clock A.M. and
4:00 o’clock P.M. (Prevailing Time) on each of the
five days prior to the day of
the election, Saturday and
Sunday excepted.
