Local School Budgets Okayed

Residents headed to the polls Tues., May 14 to vote on their school budgets, elect school trustees and consider other propositions on the ballots.•Amityville School District voters approved their budget, 515 to 230. Incumbent Board of Trustees Juan Leon and Jeannette Santos, both incumbents, were reelected to the board.

•In Farmingdale, voters approved their budget 1,413 to 658, and incumbent board trusteed Mario Espinosa, Anthony Giordano and Kathy Lively were reelected, 1119, 1299 and 1383 votes respectively.

•Massapequa voters okayed their budget 3,360 to 1,874, but rejected a proposition for a new aquatic center, 3,423 to 1,818. Kerry Wachter and Jeanine Caramore won three-year terms to the school board.

•Plainedge voters said yes to their budget, 806 to 460, and approved a capital reserve expenditure, 879 to 354. They also okayed establishment of a third capital reserve fund, 847 to 396. Four candidates running unopposed—were elected to the school board: Dr. Joseph Netto, Sisi Wong Townson, Dr. Lynnda Nadien and Jennifer Maggio.
